Todd J. Adams, MD, MPH, FACOG, is a Board Certified obstetrician and gynecologist serving the residents of many North Carolina communities, including Davidson, Huntersville, Lake Norman and Mooresville. At Lakeshore Women’s Specialists, PC, the doctor and his staff specialize in all aspects of women’s health. Dr. Adams goes to great lengths to help his patients get the highest quality of care possible. He uses state of the art equipment and diagnostic tools to accurately evaluate and treat each of his patients.
Dr. Adams graduated from the University of North Carolina School of Medicine in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. He then went on to complete his Obstetrics and Gynecology residency at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, Missouri. While working as a resident and chief resident, Dr. Adams developed his skills in the use of minimally invasive surgery techniques and treatment of incontinence and pelvic support problems, pelvic pain and high-risk obstetrics. He opened his practice in Mooresville, NC, in 2003. A few years later, Dr. James G. Zolzer joined the practice providing even more years of knowledge, experience and wide range of expertise.
Dr. Adams has volunteered for the Mooresville community free clinic and has served as Chairman of Obstetrics and Gynecology and on the Medical Executive Committee at Lake Norman Regional Medical Center. As his practice has grown, so has his family with the birth of his youngest child at LNRMC. When he is not at work, he enjoys spending time with his wife, three children and Weimaraner, as well as his church family at The Cove. Karen Guida, MD, FACOG, is a Board Certified obstetrician and gynecologist serving the residents of many North Carolina communities, including Davidson, Huntersville, Lake Norman and Mooresville at Lakeshore Women’s Specialists, PC.
Dr. Guida attended Indiana University School of Medicine, graduating in 2011. Her residency was at St. Francis Hospital and Medical Center in Hartford, Connecticut. Specializing in minimally invasive robotic surgery, Dr. Guida is an expert robotic-trained surgeon regularly performing hysterectomy procedures, minimally invasive removal of fibroids, treatment of endometriosis, and more. She served on the Quality Assurance Committee for Harvard Vanguard in Boston for five years before she recently relocated to Mooresville.
She is married with 2 young daughters who keep her busy along with two dogs and two cats. Passionate about staying active and outdoors, she loves gardening, running, hiking, water sports, and snowboarding! Dedicated OB/GYN Jessica Rhodes, DO, offers the full scope of women’s health services to the community of Mooresville, North Carolina, at Lakeshore Women’s Specialists, PC. She specializes in minimally invasive vaginal surgery and minimally invasive laparoscopy, providing her patients surgical treatments with less pain, shorter hospital stays, and fewer complications.
After earning her undergraduate degree from High Point University in High Point, North Carolina, Dr. Rhodes completed medical school at Virginia College of Osteopathic Medicine in Blacksburg, Virginia. She then relocated to Baltimore, Maryland, to complete her residency training at Franklin Square Medical Center.
Before joining the team at Lakeshore Women’s Specialists, PC, Dr. Rhodes practiced at Atrium Health in Lincolnton, North Carolina. She is trained in vNOTES (vaginal natural orifice transluminal endoscopic surgery), which increases the number of vaginal surgeries she is able to perform, as well as OMM (osteopathic manipulative medicine). With OMM, Dr. Rhodes is currently using manual manipulation to help alleviate the discomforts of pregnancy.
Dr. Rhodes is married and has two boys. They enjoy boating as a family. Dr. Rhodes also loves to ballroom dance with her husband and has a creative passion for knitting.

Melissa Ranallo is a Board Certified Physician Assistant at Lakeshore Women’s Specialists. Melissa joined the team in November of 2016 and works alongside Dr. Adams and Dr. Zolzer to provide obstetrics and gynecological services as well as primary care needs for women of all ages. Melissa has over nine years of experience practicing family medicine in Mooresville, NC before joining the team at Lakeshore to specialize in OB/GYN. In addition to practicing at Lakeshore Women’s Specialists, Melissa specializes in aesthetic procedures, including laser treatments, injectable botulinum, and dermal fillers, and helping patients achieve their weight loss goals at Lakeshore Renewal. Melissa is dedicated to her patients and loves building lasting relationships with each individual. Patient health and well-being is her utmost priority.
Originally from Pittsburgh, PA, Melissa has lived in North Carolina since 2007. She and her husband have two boys and enjoy spending time with family and with friends. Leah Alfino, FNP-C, IBCLC, is a board-certified family nurse practitioner and an international board certified lactation consultant at Lakeshore Women’s Specialists, PC. She joined the team in December of 2018 and serves patients living in and around Davidson, Huntersville, Lake Norman, and Mooresville, North Carolina. Leah provides obstetric, gynecological, and lactation care to her patients.
Leah values the opportunity to establish and build a comfortable and trusting relationship with her patients while providing thorough, compassionate care.
Leah is originally from Southwest Virginia but has resided in North Carolina for the last 22 years. Prior to coming to Lakeshore Women’s Specialists, she worked as an OB nurse and lactation consultant at Lake Norman Regional Medical Center for 18 years.
Leah and her husband live in Huntersville with their son and daughter. Leah loves spending free time with her family, traveling to watch her son play basketball, and running.
